A few changes can make a BIG impact.  A  black maple island with beadboard doors and panels was installed in place of the existing oak island.   The existing desk was replaced with a 48″ cabinet to match the existing oak cabinets.   A Blanco sink and faucet, St. Cecilia granite, tile backsplash, crown molding and undercabinet lighting  give this kitchen a more updated look.   A black vanity with granite and Kohler undermount was installed in the powder room.
